I love coming here. Everything is always delicious. My personal favorites are the banana walnut pancakes and the golden graham Belgian waffle, but all of the breakfast food is great. It's a personal atmosphere that's not pretentious at all unlike chain restaurants. Would give it 5 stars, but service can be slow (as they let you know).

Really wanted a breakfast iteam but we had just missed. They only serve some iteams between certain times. I opted for clam chowder....barf in mouth. I saw my waitress put it in the microwave which was already a turn off for me. It tasted like it came from a can. I barley touched it...the waitress was obviously not great are she would have noticed. All in all none of us enjoyed our meals from the lunch special. Don't think I will give this place another shot. Even with all the good reviews.

Linda's cafe is a small mom and pop place with great comfort food. I went in around 6:30 pm and walked right in and had my food within 10 mins. Wanted something homey for dinner and this was great. My waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I give this place 4.5 out of 5. Pay close attention to the street signs when drive here it is small side street which essentially is a parking lot!

First time at Linda's Cafe. My first impression was a local "greasy spoon," but that's was ok as that's kind of what we were looking for. Walked thru the front door and stood there as no one greeted us. After a minute or two of being stared at by some of the staff, a young man greeted us and directed us to a table. The table was near the open kitchen. Again, that was ok as that's what I expect from a local diner -- part of the charm. However, the overhead vent blew so much air I couldn't even keep my paper napkin on my lap without it blowing off. It took about 5 minutes for a server to bring us menus, but again I was ok with that as I realized they were pretty busy. The server was friendly when taking our order and brought our drinks quickly. And the wait began. And we waited and we waited and we waited. The food finally came and it was all pretty good. I had two eggs with two pork chops, home fries, and toast. It was all pretty good and the eggs were cooked correctly (over easy). Nothing spectacular, but a good old fashion American diner breakfast. I enjoyed it. My wife and son both had blueberry waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon or corned beef hash. I tried their dishes as we always share. The bacon and eggs were good. Again, nothing that I couldn't have made at home, but good. The corned beef hash was clearly from a can. And I honestly didn't care for the blueberry waffles, obviously from a boxed mix, but my wife and son liked them, and that's what really mattered. The biggest problem I had with this place, and it has nothing to do with the food, service and even the decor was that while we were waiting my son found a "Navy Veteran" ball cap on the floor beneath our table. So I took the cap to the cashier counter where the young girl ignored my presence for about 3 minutes. She was finishing up with a customer when I said, "I found this cap on the floor" and she said absolutely nothing -- didn't even make eye contact. The gentlemen customer made a comment about the cap and we made small talk as we waited. After he paid, the young cashier slowly finished what she was doing (stapling the receipts, etc) looked up at me and said nothing. I mean no "can I help you?" Nothing. So I repeated, "I found this cap on the floor and I want to turn it in just in case someone comes back to claim it". She took the hat and I returned to my table somewhat miffed. When our meal was over I went up to pay and again this young lady never said anything other than asking me if I wanted a copy of my receipt. Really weird. I don't think she meant to come off rude, but that's exactly how it appeared to me. Perhaps she was just having a bad morning. So to wrap it up: decor - ok (typical diner), service - good and attentive, but slow (that's the kitchen's fault), food - decent, price - a little high for the quality. I'd would had given Linda's 4 stars if the food came quicker and the cashier spoke and smiled. Worth giving it another shot, just smile next time.

One of my best friends and I were traveling the Virginia and DC area on an old guy's road trip after not road tripping for 30 years. Our goal, find local gems to eat at and explore an area of the country we had never been to before. Linda's was a bit run down, but it had good food. We decided to have breakfast here, because of the YELP reviews before a day on the road. My buddy had the Meatlovers Omelet and really enjoyed it, even though the Sourdough toast wasn't real sourdough. I had Eggs, their special "Link sausage", grits and Biscuits and Gravy, because I wanted to sample as much as I could. Mine was very good, especially their real Sausage Gravy. 3 Stars only because they need to repair their torn booth seats and ceiling.

Just went to Linda's for breakfast on a Sunday early afternoon. We got lucky and got a booth right away, were served coffee and given our menus....then the decision making process was on! So much to choose from...this is probably one of the most (at least to me) appealing and creative breakfast menus I've ever seen. We had a very long wait after ordering, but we didn't mind--it was a Sunday after all and they kept the coffee pouring. Not to mention I have a lot of patience for well prepared food--it's a total experience for me....so that is not normally a big deal. If, however, you have any kind of time constraint, you may want to at least mention it to the server. Apart from the long wait time (which seems to be pretty consistently long) everyone is always pleasant, cheery and attentive when possible and Sunday was no exception. It deserves repeating to say that if the food is exceptional and the service is friendly and cheery, who would want to rush the cook staff--it is apparent they know what they are doing. So sit back and enjoy! A tip--bring a newspaper, a good book or a good friend to take up the wait time. Or just play with your smartphone and write a review of Linda's! Overall, this particular experience was 5 star all the way around, and I would highly recommend Linda's for breakfast over any chain you may find in the area.

I love little small town diners where you can sit at the counter and talk to the really nice ladies/cooks. They are a dying breed with all these chain rastaurants popping up everywhere. They made me feel right at home and gave service with a smile. Love that. :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Linda's! I have been going here since I was a kid and the food has always been good. I especially love going here for breakfast, and is always a favorite of mine on my lunch breaks. If you go during lunch time, or Saturday/Sunday morning for breakfast, get there early! It fills up quickly, and the wait for your food can be long. They will remind you- it is not a fast food restaurant, they are making your food right there. The servers are always sweeties, and they often remember you.

Okay Lindas. I am torn because your food is really delicious in a comfort food/diner sort of way and your servers are really friendly. The time it took to get my food, however, was excruciating. It is hard to come here on a lunch break because we always know that we will never be back in time for our meetings to start. It is also hard to sit there, smell delicious food, and watch others eat while your belly rumbles and tumbles. So I'm giving three stars because you are A-OK. I like your food. I like your servers. I like the fact that you are the only good diner in town. I love your tuna melt and I absolutely love the golden graham waffles when I'm a tad hungover. Your location is good as well. If you took all of these things and added a quick turn-around time you would definitely get 4-5 stars from every patron. Another tip, put some outdoor seating out front in the summer and add some free wifi. You will have every 25-45 year old skip starbucks to give you business. Much love to you Lindas. I look forward to rating you again and giving you four stars. I will still eat here....I will just plan accordingly with my belly.

Just in town for the day on business, and after a quick search on Yelp, we decided Linda's was the answer for dinner. It's a little tucked away, but we found it alright after a u-turn :) They had a nice batch of specials for the evening, but as I often do, I looked for the "signature" special on the menu. In this case it was "Linda's Special" (go figure, right?) Linda's Special is a hamburger steak covered in onions and gravy with your choice of two sides. I picked potato cakes and green beans. All very good. Of course, I found myself breaking one of the All-o-gistics, namely "thou shalt not covet thy neighbors food." My coworker had the country fried chicken special with the potato pancakes and stewed tomatoes...i did not try the tomatoes (but I will be looking into making them someday), but I did manage to snag a piece of chicken...crunchy, juicy, and still really freakin' hot even after sitting on our table for a good 20+ minutes. Fortunately they were out of the two dessert options that I was having trouble choosing between (bread pudding and blackberry cobbler) so I didn't go any more overboard than I already had...but being the only two they were out of, I bet they were good... Oh, and extra credit for quality, hand-painted window lettering. No crappy Fast Signs vinyl here.

This is my fave breakfast spot in Lex Park...albeit it is one of the only...there are seriously only like two diners (what is a hungover gal supposed to do) the food is great, the peeps are all Nice that work there. It does take a really long time to get food, but we always know that going in and everything is fresh so it is not a biggie...the place is often packed so you may have to wait for a table...but it is worth the wait. I almost always get Chesapeake eggs Benedict which is soo good. but i had an egg salad BLT once and a fancy grilled cheese and both were great...good fries too!! ohhh...best part it is CHEAP!

You have to try it for yourself. This locally owned restaurant is home style comfort incarnate. It has a down home country feel, a broad menu of mouthwatering food, and daily specials. be prepared for a very casual atmosphere, with many older patrons (They're in the know). I have never had a bad experience here, but then again, I don't visit Linda's when it is swamped with people. I understand their staff to be friendly and responsive, but have difficulty during peak hours keeping everyone satisfied. The wait times are always low, the food is great, and if you want something special or off-menu they are very accommodating (within reason). Come for breakfast or lunch and bring a friend, and just relax. The pancakes are excellent, as is the french toast. Unique offerings like stuffed ham and liver and onions (an infrequent special) you won't find elsewhere. Try the coconut creme pie or the chocolate pie. Its a fine place just to have coffee and dessert as well. You'll enjoy it, I know I do.

Love having a local, greasy spoon diner here. The wait times for food can be long, but the place is always busy and all the staff are clearly busting their butts to make things happen. It's not the best food I've ever had, but it's usually still our first pick when we are craving a big breakfast.

5 stars when compared to the options nearby. We drove around for a while as the GPS lead us to places no longer open or not yet open(seasonal - on the water) Though taking into account the (good!) food and (friendly) service, 4 stars for sure. two lunches, $16, now this is country good

Great basic diner. Unique atmosphere that is all Southern MD. Breakfast a special treat. I'm a fan of the time it takes to get food to the table, it's freshly cooked when it shows up. I've never stopped at Linda's and not enjoyed my meal. Great place.

  • Erika M.

As one of the only breakfast places in town, this place is very good. Friendly wait staff, good food (meat liver's omelet was very good), and fair price. And the entire time we were here the place was full.

  • Robin T.

OK place to eat, nice atmosphere.. Omelets are good, sausage terrible, and bacon overcooked..

A bit of a dive but, Linda's qualifies as 'Classic Greasy Spoon' dining. Breakfast on Saturday is a treat.

If you like an old fashioned, down to earth, good food diner - this is it. I like any eatery that serves scrapple with my breakfast and real fried potatoes and onions (not that I need them, mind you, but do love them). I think this place is wonderful and just wish it was a little closer to me. I'd be a fixture in there if it was.

  • Jonathan G.

Not bad at all. Linda's is a solid diner with a pretty sizable menu, especially for breakfast. Linda's gets 4 stars from me (well... 3.5, to be honest), because there's nothing else that's even close nearby. Sure, you can drive over to the IHOP and put up with kids and lousy service, or you can have a small-town diner meal at very good prices.

Great small town breakfast. Service is slow, but worth the wait most days. Don't come here. If you are in a hurry, sit at the bar. I love the specials.

had the homemade potatoe soup hot turkey sandwich with dressing and gravy, very yummy. prices werent bad and no waiting (weekday lunchtime) understand you might have a 10 minute wait for breakfast or lunch on weekends.

Could not have taken longer for lunch. Ordered two Reubens with 1000 island on the side, a burger and eggs bendict. Took an hour from order till arrival at our table. Reubens came with 1000 island on the sandwich and the burger and eggs were Ho hum.

We tried the Chesapeake eggs Benedict and the vegetarian eggs Benedict. They were both really good, with some great crab cakes and Potatoes on the side .

This is a great local spot that is in Lexington Park, definitely the Southern MD version of the NJ Diner. The food is great, it comes out fast, and the service is very good. Linda is always around to chat and she is super friendly and cares deeply about her customers. With so many big box chains down in St. Mary's it's good to see that there are still mom and pop's places like this. Please get out and support Linda's as much as you can.

OH WOOOWWW!!!!! My husband, baby, and I loved Linda's CAFE!!!!! :D The Chesapeake Benedict Was amazing for my husband!!! My Patty melt reminded me of home! The fries were so good! My baby had a hot dog and fries!!!! He actually ate all his food which never happens!!!! :0 I would recommend this place to all. You do have to be a little patient for your food to be ready, but it is well worth the wait!!!! :D

The 411: this is a homey, local place that serves nice breakfast items at respectable prices. If you go to st. Mary's college of Maryland or the college of southern Maryland in st. Mary's county, this place has decent prices for a tight budget. The hot cakes: served with maple syrup and topped with sugar. Their version are a little rubbery and hard to cut, but the flavor of the batter is very delicious. The meats: the bacon is cooked well. They also have jalapeño bacon that I really wanna try. The scrapple is cooked well, but I've had more generous servings of it elsewhere for the same price. The grits: perfectly flavored! Nice in texture and salted just right, their grits are something you have to get if you're a fan! The omelette: I got the Spanish with sausage. It was great! A little pricey, but that's okay. It also comes with nice home fries. I'm told their specials and other comfort entrees are what really make this place special. I hear that you have to try the chipped beef and the biscuits and gravy. Bottom line: this place has breakfast for everybody. They might be a little slow to get your food through at the rush time, but service is nothing but accommodating and it's a nice place to sit back, sip your coffee and not have to deal with any dishes after your meal. Check out the antique shop and the thrift shop afterwards.

I gave them 4 stars after our first visit (review below) but the second visit food was a 1-2 star. Just had their turkey dinner. Yuck! Turkey tasted fake and rubbery like the type you'd get in a high school cafe. The potatoes were cheap instant. The stuffing was also instant, and rubbery and inedible. The bean soup was very good, and the waitress gave that on the house since I wasn't happy with the turkey dinner. Original review: Visiting from out of town and this was the type of quaint local place we were looking for. There were so many choices on the menu I took longer than normal to decide between a breakfast thing or lunch. Went for the double bacon cheeseburger with fries (which I'll rarely buy because of the high cals/fat). The burger meat was fresh like you'd make at home, and the bread was amazing. And the waitress laughed at all of my jokes, which is always important.

After reading some of the reviews I gave this little spot a try. Upon entering I walked the back of the restaurant where I came upon the greeter of sorts. ( they maybe moving to another location and I think that that particular station should be in the front of the restaurant). It appears that there are quite a few regulars and the waitress's know the patrons by name and already know what they may want to order and they just confirm the order before they even say anything. I found that to be pretty cool. As a new customer I didn't receive that Mayberry vibe! No one asked had I been there before and I wasn't sure if I wait to be seated or seat myself. Good thing I ask questions! As I was perusing the menu the waitress came over every 10 seconds and asked if I was ready to order. I started to get up an leave but, I didn't want to give up just yet. So I finally decided to order the tuna melt and it was described on the menu as being made with sourdough bread which was the main reason I ordered it. Imagine my disappointment when it arrived on regular white bread accompanied by some over cooked fries. I requested a menu to check the description and I was right! I informed the waitress and she informed the cook. They made me another with the correct bread. The waitress even gave me a take away container to take the original sandwich with me. In my mind bonus! Then my order arrived and the fries were perfect and I thought that the sandwich was going to be delicious...I was SO wrong! The tuna was flavorless! I was upset! How do you mess up tuna?! I ate half of the sandwich and put the rest in the take away container with the first sandwich. When I got up to pay the cashier I left the container on the table. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until I walked out but it wasn't even worth going back for. I generously gave two stars because although I felt a little rush she seem just as annoyed as I was with the bread mix up and she was very friendly! I MAY try again just because of the friendly waitstaff but it will not be anytime soon. That was $8.00 that I could've kept and made a really awesome tuna melt at home with tasty tuna salad. I'll have to think about returning in the distant future...very, very distant future!

Very quaint little spot. Like the hometown feel of the place. Ordered the cap'n crunch French toast which came with 2 eggs and choice of sausage (patties/links) bacon and scrapple I passed on the scrapple Amanda, our waitress, couldn't describe it to me. Call me crazy, but I'm not an adventurous eater. I would've gave them 5 stars but the food took 30 minutes to arrive. Would've been rough if I were really hungry. Oh and you have to go through the kitchen to go to the bathroom....yeah, that's what I said.

Linda's is an awesome place IMO! The staff if friendly, the service may be a bit delayed at times, but they have a sign that states, this is not fast food, your order is made to order! I think that's to the point and, I personally appreciate to the point! Parking is cumbersome sometimes because the lot is small but you can always park somewhere. Lunch time and weekends are definitely the busiest, as they are right near the Naval Base-Pax.

Linda's is great! the food is better than home cooked and is always fresh. The atmosphere and people are always friendly and the service is great. I have always thought of Linda's as the place to go for breakfast and lunch but they are open for dinner and you can even get breakfast for dinner.

What a fun little place to have a traditional breakfast. Eggs, hash, scrapple, grits, everything that makes for a big breakfast. They are open early, have good food, and the price is fair for a greasy spoon diner. Come and enjoy!

So why you may ask a five star, well let's just say with so many big box options around this is a breath of a time past. Well maybe not time past since it's still here and they have some fun menu items that are current in terms of fun. Bacon stuffed waffle, chicken and waffles, yum!!! I had the captain crunch coated French toast that was just divine not over sweet and oh so so good. The bacon was cooked right and the coffee was never-ending. We had pancakes, an omelet and gravy and boy could you tell it was made with love. The decor is your typical old diner but what made such an impression was the service. Our server was just great from when we sat down to when we left. These big box places could learn a thing or two from these old school places. She's the one who recommended the crunch French toast and yeah yum!!! No pressure as we had to wait for our other party to arrive and she's like take all the time you need. I know for sure when we come back I'll be eating here for sure.

Great breakfast! This place is located in a strip mall and is a far departure from the fancy brunch restaurants of DC. And, that is its strength. What it lacks in frills and decor (the restaurant is wood-paneled), it makes up in delicious breakfast. You can spend a fortune at fancy DC brunches and not have one good plate. I ordered the Egg Salad BLT sandwich - a fabulous combination. Silver Diner used to have this sandwich, and much to my disappoint, they took it off the menu. An egg salad BLT is genius. My husband ordered an omelette, and his only complaint was there wasn't enough egg. The service was great, as well! I would definitely come back for breakfast or lunch (they serve breakfast all day) again.

My dad is in town and I know he likes greasy spoons. I've ate here a few times and I will tell you right now that it's not the place to eat if you are limited on time. They cook the food as ordered. I enjoy eating here as I find the food good. It leaves your stomach feeling heavy after eating. If you are looking for a hole in the wall with a country style, Check this place out.

Visiting from San Diego for business so I like to try as much local food as possible. Well... you can't get much more local than this place. More than the food the staff was one of the friendliest I've ever encountered! I was treated with so much southern hospitality I started to feel wierd, but in a good way. This is not the norm back home. The food was simple but good. Try the scrapple if you've never had it!

  • Justin D.

I've had to revise my review... the food is still great (usually), but I remembered today why we haven't been here in months...the WAIT. It's bad enough that the service is so spotty, but it is really difficult to sit with a fussy toddler and hungry pregnant woman while waiting FORTY MINUTES for breakfast food. BREAKFAST FOOD! When we finally got it, our eggs were ridiculously undercooked, an I had to chase down my server to get it fixed. This isn't a solitary experience--it's the norm here now. I won't be back for a long time.

I am not sure why this place has so many good reviews! My wife and I were staying in Point Lookout and we were excited to try this local restaurant. We were sadly disappointed. The table was sticky. When the coffee maker was cleaned last? The coffee tasted like it was made with an old filter or bad water or something. There were old salt, pepper, sugar and hot sauce containers at every table. When were they cleaned and refilled last? They were dirty. The food was greasy and gross. Barely edible. Once seated you can see the whole kitchen - it is dirty. There is grease all over the vents and the walls. What else is dirty from years of neglect? Go watch the Food Network show "Restaurant Impossible" and any of the places on this show could be Linda's Cafe. My advice: go somewhere else. Sadly, a chain would have been better because they at least have a health code standard to uphold.

The upside: The food is not bad and the staff is friendly. The downside: the place is a bit dirty and the coffee was bland and cool.

Pretty decent. I had the Chesapeake eggs Benedict...just ok. Pancakes were just alright...not bad, just a little blah. The chicken fried steak looked good though...

I was referred to this place by some people at work. My first impression was this is a hole in a wall joint but to actually see holes in the wall wasn't a good sign. At this place you seat your self which is ok but the seats cushions are all torn apart. Everything in this place is extremely old from the menus to the stuff on the wall. But the food was very good and the service there was great. I constantly saw my server and everyone else server moving around to make sure everyone was satisfied. This will be my breakfast spot for now on.

Walked Out: First off, this place is filthy. After about 10 minutes of sitting, we got our menus and ordered our water and coffee. The waitress didn't write it down and forgot what was ordered and had to come back and ask again. Once the coffee finally arrived, it was gross. Tasted old and bland. When we tried to order, the waitress refused to honor what was in writing on the menu. I tried to order an omelette that had potatoes in the omelette. It says it comes with a side of home fries or fruit. They were out of fruit and refused to give me a side of home fries because there were already potatoes in the eggs and that I'd have to pay extra. After showing her what was clearly written on the menu under all of the omelettes, she said that it doesn't apply to the one I ordered. Well this was the last straw for me. After terrible coffee, terrible service, and a company refusing to honor what they have in writing we decided to go elsewhere. They didn't seem to care. That's just the type of place this is. Love it or leave it. We left it.

I've been to Linda's a few times now and I really enjoy the food and atmosphere. I've only been on weekday mornings so there has been no wait to get a seat. That being said, the service has been quick and friendly. Everything I've ordered has tasted good--nothing to complain about. I highly recommend Linda's for breakfast.
